Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
(ESRA 8:21-23)

Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them.
(NEHEMIAH 9:1-3 )

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
(ESTHER 4:16-17).

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
(PSALMS 35:13)

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
(ISAIAH 58:6-11 )

Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
(JOEL 1:14,2:15 )

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!I hope the truth about fasting, is useful for all. I thank God for His mercy on us. Let us all welcome the Holy Spirit to edify us through the new Fasting Prayer.Let us confess Godís word before we start getting charged by todayís word.* I lie down both in peace and sleep; for God alone makes me dwell in safety.( Psalm- 4:8).* I have great peace because I love Godís law, and nothing causes me so stumble. (Psalm- 119:165).* The LORD keeps me keep him in perfect peace because I keep my mind on Him and I trust in Him.( Isaiah- 26:3).* Peace He leaves with me- His peace He gives to me; not as the world gives does Christ give to me. My heart is not troubled, neither is it afraid.( John- 14:27).Let us give Praise and thanks to God for all His words will come to pass in our life. In these series, we will be exploring the different types of fast which is written in the bible followed by men and women of God for different purposes which accomplished Godí purposes. People of God let our eyes be opened to these Practical examples so that we will also become a chosen vessel for God to use us mightily for His Kingdom.A significant reason to fast is that it releases people from the bondages of sin. Many Christians are victims to besetting sins. As we learnt a besetting sin are habitual sins which cannot be broken by ordinary will power. Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ, trapped by a besetting sin? Jesus died for you on the cross for all sins, including your besetting sins. You no longer need to be a victim you can be victorious because of Jesus victory on the cross.Today we will learn about "DISCIPLES FAST."Purpose: ďTo loose the bands of wickedness"(Isaiah-58:6)- freeing ourselves and others from addictions to sin and shew my people their transgression (Proverbs-23:18-35,Isaiah-58:1,Revelation- 14th chapter and 17,18th chapter) Key verse:" This kind goeth not out by prayerandfasting"(Matt- 17:15-21,Mark-9:25-29 KJV)Background: Jesus cast out a demon from a boy whom the disciples had failed to help.Satan had his grip set in the youth. The implication is that Jesusís disciples could have casted out the demon spirit if they had undergone the discipline of fasting. In this age we the disciples of Jesus make light of "besetting" sins that can be cast out if we are serious enough to fast. Hence this term -DISCIPLE'S FAST.

STEPS TO DELIVERANCE

STEP 1:RENOUNCE COUNTERFEIT CONTROL
This requires recognizing and renouncing any control over your mind that is not from Christ. Anti Christian values learned in an ungodly home can impact a family for generations.Have you been involved innocently or actively in the occult, new age, spiritism, black magic, cults, or other religions? Satanic ritualsand bonding oneself to alien spirit also place people in spiritual bondage.Pray audibly: Take time to examine your history. Write down all the counterfeit influences. I renounce (insert the counterfeit influences that are holding you in bondage).
STEP 2: ACKNOWLEDGE SELF-DECEPTION.
Discern the truth from that which is deceptive We deceive ourselves when we hear and fail to apply the word of God in our lives. In( John-8:32) Jesus said "you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free".When anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself (Galatian-6:3) If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us (1John-1:8)To move out of the realm of self -deception we must admit we are deceived. When we are honest with God and ourselves we allow God's truth to free us from deceptionPray audibly: I acknowledge( insert here this areas where you have deceived yourself).
STEP 3: FORGIVE TO OVERCOME BITTERNESS.
If you refuse to forgive anyone, you can place yourself in spiritual bondage. Forgiveness is a choice. Because God requires us to forgive others. It is not merely a conflict between yourself and the offender, but a matter between you and God. You choose to live in the freedom of forgiveness or in the bitterness of bondage. As you forgive others, you experience God's forgiveness in your life.Pray audibly: I forgive ( insert the names of those who have wronged you in ant way).
STEP 4: SUBMIT TO GOD'S AUTHORITY.
Overcome rebellion in your life by submitting to the authority of God and those He has placed over you. It is manifestation of great faith (Mathew-8:8-10, Ephesian-5:21-32,6:1-5)Submitting to the authorities God has placed in your life
  (1) civil government,
  (2)church leadership,
  (3)parents,
  (4)husbands,
  (5)wives,
  (6)Childrens,
  (7)Elders,
  (8)employers,
is an evidence of your submission to God Himself.Pray audibly: I submit to ( insert here the specific authority in your life).

STEP 5: TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Confronts the problem of pride with a spirit of humility. When you give in to the sin of pride and self-exaltation, you are in bondage. The key to experience full freedom in Christ is to take responsibility for your actions. It is not just enough to say "I am sorry". You are required to renounce and repent every sin. When you take responsibility for yourself and your sin, you humble yourself before God and enable Him to bless you with the freedom He desires to give you.Fast and pray: I am responsible for ( insert specific sin here).
STEP 6: DISOWN SINFUL INFLUENCESD
issolve sinful influences that comes from friends and acquaintances. We are predisposed to certain behavior from several sources
  (1) emotional and psychological problems
  (2) hereditary
  (3) direct sinful stimulation
  (4) direct demonic activity.
Few simple steps to help you through Recognize that you have been crucified, buried and raised with Jesus. Verbally claim the blood of Jesus over come the evil one(1Corinthian-6:20), Now you sit in the heavenlies (2 Corinthian-4:14),Loudly claim you belong to Lord Jesus(Galatian-.5:24).Pray audibly:I disown (insert specific negative influences in your life).
PRINCIPLES TO REMEMBER
  1. Take inventory of all six steps of principles
  2. Focus on your problem. Be specific and donít rush
  3. The more specific and purposeful will give the more specific results. Do not be vague in dealing with your sin.
  4. Naming your sin and affirming your accountability for your actions is a step toward overcoming the besetting sin.
  5. For outward victory over sin you must take inner responsibility for your actions.
  6. Fasting is a private commitment made to God.(Start private fast first, before it becomes public)(Mathew-6:16-18).
7.Read your Bible and pray everyday.(Mathew-4:1-11).
AFFIRMATION:I believe there is no earthly temptation that can enslave me, but that God has a way of escape for me. I believe in the power of the blood of Christ and in the strength of the name of Christ. God is my strength and His grace is my basis, i commit myself to Disciple's fast from-----/-----/---- and time and i will end ----/----/---- time. I am fasting because i want the Son of God to make me free indeed. Let us pray:Our loving Father, we thank You in Jesus name for helping us to learn about your deliverance through this Disciple's fast. So often we had felt helpless in our effort to come out of our besetting sins. We have blamed ourselves and others. But today we recognize, take responsibility and repent and renounce in the name of Jesus and by the blood of His cross. We will obey you in doing this fast as we are desperate to be set free. As we do our part we believe You are faithful to deliver us. We thank You in Jesus name. AMEN. With Prayer. A servant of the Lord Jesus Christ .
